Project Description
LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT
Bani Mandir believes in helping individuals to live a life of dignity. To achieve this, our livelihood programmes focus on generating sustainable livelihoods. This is done through capacity building, fostering community links and promoting small businesses.
We put special focus on entrepreneurial ventures, which are owned by women. Through its livelihood programmes, CARE India promotes microfinance, Self Help Groups, capacity building and small businesses. It also fosters linkages between community collectives and financial institutions. We also focuses on improving the literacy, numeracy and critical thinking skills to promote sustainable livelihoods.
From Youth Empowerment Fund (YEF), sponsored youth were trained up in First Aid by the trainer from St. John Ambulance. Each trained youth further trained 05 sponsored youth in First Aid. From CSP, the First Aid Boxes (1 each) were given to 24 paradals. (A praradal is a group functioning in a part of a village).
All the 360 trained youth are associated with the paradals. The youth render first aid services to local people.
In its services to the poor and needy villagers, Bani Mandir has received the humane support from the donors of TEAM ABHIDAAN. It has developed sound rapport with the team. During the reporting year, the donation received at the fag-end of March 2017 from the Team enabled Bani Mandir to provide the livelihood support to 05 landless poor families; with a Cycle Rickshaw each. These 05 families were selected from different villages as under :
- Kholakhali – Mithu Adak
- Kultukari – BiswanathChakraborty
- Jeoncha – Sajal Das and Binanda Das
- Jhawdari – MithuHalder
The beneficiaries highly acknowledged the benevolent support given by Team Abhidaan and its donors to save them from penury and utter destitution.
