We have observed it that our work for women empowerment, not only benefits the women but the concerned communities also . But unfortunately in India, far from being empowered, most of the women are deprived of their basic rights like health, education, employment and a respectable status in society.
According to a recent UNDP Human Development Report, India has a dangerously imbalanced sex ratio, the chief reason being rampant female infanticide and sex-selective abortions. This is a dangerous warning situation
BaniMandir has taken a positive stride towards women empowerment by bringing rural women from low income-group families under the canopy of Self-Help Groups. It is to enable them to articulate their rights and interests, to strength then their income security, control over incomes and assets and above all, to achieve a quality life. For all these, they must accord due importance to savings from meagre incomes of their families in a collective way, leading to development of capital fund to be utilized mainly for productive purposes.
Bani Mandir acts as a catalyst as well as facilitator to the women in Self-Help Groups. It facilitates them to develop linkage with lead banks, to keep accounts and other records systematically, to utilize the capital fund on loan basis to the group members followed by timely recovery of loans to the group fund.
